Corsican

Also known as: American Blackbelly

Early on

Trapper’s first real venture into top quality horned genetics was in Corsicans. Sentinel was his first real big breeder; he measured 41″ long and was purchased from Cody Malone. Also, and potentially more notable was that the original 3 Corsican ewes were bought directly from Stephen Jenschke for a small fortune. That original group of ewes were wiped out by predators, and Sentinel died a few months later from coccidia.

Current

The current group came about mainly from 2 different factors. One being Nazar who Trapper purchased from Justin Trimble when it was 18 months old, Nazar had grown into a breeder quality ram by the time Trapper and Rainwater Farm had partnered making it so a new breeder would not have to be purchased. The second factor is Gary and Beth Rainwater liking the color of the Corsican more than all the others. Two separate groups of females were purchased both leading back to Charles Roady, a notable Corsican breeder out of Oklahoma. This group is probably the soundest considering their genetics stemming back from a very constituent quality breeder.
